• • Proposal/Grant Writing: During the over 20 years I worked in Clinical Trials I was responsible for managing and writing proposals and funding applications for funds from government, pharmaceutical and private/ philanthropic funding organizations. I can organize complex information and build a persuasive response to a request. In some cases for a proposal we bulit complex programs in enough detail to describe them to the funder, which often then was the blueprint for the program when funding was awarded.

  • Educational Writing for patients and consumers: Throughout my career I have developed educational materials for patients, families and professionals alike. In my years working as an R.N. in an HIV/AIDS clinic education was a foundation of working with the patient and their loved ones. I am able to take complex medical information and translate it for the non-medical learner. During those same years our care team provided training for hospital staff physicians and nurses as HIV Care was still relatively new. In my work in Vietnam one primary goal was to train the medical and nursing staff of five hospitals to conduct clinical trials according to the U.S. F.D.A. rules and regulations. We provided training ranging from classroom education to side-by-side training for staff in the hospital as they began conducting a clinical trial.

  • Case studies / Case histories: I have written case stories ranging from more formal reports of a patient’s experience and have also written them to describe more casually what someone is experiencing. The informal case studies can also be short stories that describe how a company or organization solved a particular challenge with a product or  service — and what the results of solving that challenge were. These are sometimes useful in company newsletters or emails, both internal and external.

  • E-Newsletters: Many companies use e-newsletters to keep in touch with their customers and to keep their own employees informed. These can range widely in topic and can be friendly stories or spotlights on a satisfied customer.
